イエスさまが与えられる水
John 4:10-15
ヨハネ４章10節〜15節

Over the past two months we have been looking at the meeting between Jesus and the Samaritan woman.
過去2ヶ月に渡って、イエス様とサマリアの女の出会いについて見てきました。

As we have just read, this meeting is recorded in John Chapter 4.
今読んだように、この出会いはヨハネの四章に記されています。

Let's look back at what we have seen.
何を見てきたのか振り返ってみましょう。

First, Jesus purposefully travelled through Samaria, even though Jews would have normally avoided that area.
まずイエス様は、旅をするのに、普通ならユダヤ人は避ける場所であるサマリアをわざと通られました。

Next, Jesus sent all of his disciples to buy food.
次に、イエス様は弟子を全員、食べ物の買い出しに行かせました。

They didn't all need to go, but Jesus wanted to make sure he was alone at the well.
全員が行く必要はありませんでしたが、イエス様は井戸の所でひとりになれるようにしたかったのです。

Then, Jesus sat on the wall of the well.
それから、イエス様は井戸のふちに座られました。

Jesus was not only conspicuous, He was making himself unavoidable.
目に付くだけではなく、絶対に避けられないようにされたのです。

If anyone wanted to get water from that well, they would have to go through Jesus to get it.
もし誰かがその井戸から水を汲みたいと思ったら、イエス様を通り抜けて行かないといけませんでした。

Last, when the Samaritan woman came to draw water from the well, Jesus asked her for a drink.
最後に、サマリアの女が井戸に水を汲みに来た時、イエス様は彼女に水をくださいと頼みました。

Jesus knew her background.
イエス様は彼女がどんな人かを知っていました。

He knew that she was both physically and spiritually unclean, impure.
肉体的にも霊的にも汚れていることを知っていました。

He knew that she was unacceptable and avoided by everyone around her.
周りの人達から除け者にされ、避けられていることを知っていました。

But He asked her for a drink.
それでも彼女に水を頼みました。

However, Jesus didn't just ask her for permission for a drink from that well.
しかも、井戸から水を飲んでいいかとたずねただけではなく、

Jesus asked her for a drink from her own drinking vessel.
彼女の水がめから飲ませてくださいと頼んだのです。

Jesus was making a public declaration about this woman.
イエス様はこの女についてのご自分の態度をここではっきりと示されました。

In spite of her past;
彼女の過去がどうであっても

Regardless of what other people thought of her
他の人達が彼女についてどう思っていたとしても

No matter how she felt about herself;
彼女自身が自分のことをどう思っていたとしても、

To Jesus, to God, she was valuable; she was accepted; she was important.
イエス様にとって、神様にとって、彼女は価値がありました。受け入れられていました、大切な存在でした。

Yet, as we have seen, the woman was surprised at Jesus’ request.
それでも、見てきたように、その女はイエス様の頼みに驚きました。

So today, I want to focus on how Jesus responded to her surprise.
そこで今日は、イエス様が彼女の驚きにどう対応したかを見て行きたいと思います。

Let's look at verse 10 again.
もう一度10節を見てみましょう。

Jesus answered her, "If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water."
イエスは答えて言われた。「もしあなたが神の賜物を知り、また、あなたに水を飲ませてくれと言う者がだれであるかを知っていたなら、あなたのほうでその人に求めたことでしょう。そしてその人はあなたに生ける水を与えたことでしょう。」

It's a bit of a difficult sentence.
少し難しい文章です。

So, let’s look at what Jesus was saying.
なので、イエス様が何を言っていたのかを見て行きましょう。

Jesus tells the woman that God has a gift.
イエス様はその女に、神様は賜物を持っていると言われます。

A gift is a present - something that you give to someone.
賜物とはプレゼントです、－誰かにあげるもののことです。

So, Jesus is pointing out to the Samaritan woman that God has something that He wants to give.
つまり、イエス様は、神様にはプレゼントしたいものがある、とそのサマリアの女に教えておられるのです。

God wants to give this present.
神様はこのプレゼントを渡したいのです。

God wanted to give this present to that Samaritan woman.
神様はそのサマリアの女に、このプレゼントを渡しかったのです。

And, friends, God wants to give this gift to us!
そして、みなさん、神様は私たちにもこの賜物、贈り物を渡したいと思っておられます。

Then Jesus turned the woman’s attention to himself.
それからイエス様はその女の注意をご自分に向けさせました。

He says to her:
こういわれました

"If you knew who it is that asks you for a drink…"

あなたに水を飲ませてくれと言う者がだれであるかを知っていたなら、

In other words, Jesus is saying to her: “Do you know who I am?
つまり、イエス様は「私が誰か知っていますか？」と言っておられるのです。

“If you only knew who I really am!"
「私が本当は誰なのかをあなたが知っていたら」

God had a gift, a present to give.
神様は贈り物、プレゼントを持っておられました。

And Jesus is the one through whom God was going to give that gift
そしてイエス様を通して、神様はその贈り物を下さるのです。

So, if only the woman knew who Jesus really was;
つまり、その女がイエス様は本当は誰なのかを知ってさえいたら、

If only she understood that Jesus is the One through whom God gives His gift;
神様が贈り物を下さるのは、イエス様を通してなのだと分かってさえいれば

SHE would have asked Jesus for that gift.
彼女の方から、イエス様にその贈り物をお願いしたでしょう。

And what is this gift that Jesus gives?
そしてイエス様が下さるこの贈り物とはなんでしょう？

Living water.
生ける水です。

Jesus had gone to the well.
イエス様は井戸に行かれました。

It was hot and Jesus was tired from his journey.
暑くて、イエス様は旅に疲れておられました。

So it would seem natural that Jesus would have asked the woman for a drink.
ですから、イエス様がその女に水を飲ませてくれるように頼んだのは自然なことに思えるでしょう。

But Jesus is making it clear now that his real purpose for going to that well was not to get a drink for himself.　　
でも、井戸に行った本当の目的は彼女に水を頼むことではなかったことが、この時明らかにされています。

His real purpose was to provide a drink for this woman.
イエス様の本当の目的はこの女に水を与えることでした

This drink was a gift from God.
この水は神様からの贈り物でした。

This drink was living water.
これは生ける水でした。

If this woman knew who Jesus was;
もしこの女がイエス様が誰なのかを知っていたら

If only she knew who Jesus really was;
イエス様が本当は誰なのかを知ってさえいたら

Then SHE would have asked Jesus for a drink.
そうすれば、彼女からイエス様に水をお願いしたでしょう。

And Jesus would have given her living water –
そしてイエス様は彼女に生ける水を与えられたでしょう

This gift from God: living water.
神様からの贈り物、生ける水を。

If only we would know who Jesus really is!
私たちがイエス様は本当は誰なのかを知ってさえいたら！

You probably know that the Bible is the biggest selling book in the world.
聖書は世界で一番よく売れている本だということは、みなさんご存知でしょう。

But most people’s understanding of the Bible is very incomplete and therefore incorrect.
ですがたいていの人の聖書の理解は断片的で、そのため正しくないものです。

Therefore people’s understanding of God is incomplete and incorrect.
そのため、神様についての理解も断片的で正しくないものです。

And also, and no less importantly, people’s understanding of themselves is therefore also incorrect.
そしてまた、そして同じように重要なのですが、人々の自分自身についての理解も正しくないものです。

The so-called “understanding” is really a “misunderstanding!”
いわゆる「理解」が本当は「誤解」なのです。

Many people think that the Bible is just a book of rules.
多くの人が聖書とは単なるルールの本だと思っています。

Their image is that God is trying to enforce rules on people.
その人たちのイメージでは、神様はルールを押し付けようとする存在です。

They assume that these rules are to control people.
これらのルールは人間を支配するためにあるに違いないと思っています。

Therefore, their conclusion is that if they surrender themselves to God, they will have to obey those rules;
そのため、もし自分自身を神様に明け渡したら、そのルールに従わなくてはならなくなるだろう、というのが彼らの結論です。

And therefore, they think they would lose their freedom.
そして、自由を失ってしまうだろう、と考えます。

The issue is not that they don’t believe in God.
ここでの問題は、彼らが神様を信じないということにあるのではなく、

But there is the assumption that they will have greater freedom by living their lives according to their own rules.
ただ、自分のルールに従って人生を生きていくほうがより大きな自由を持つことができる、という考え方にあるのです。

We all have our own customs and traditions.
私たちにはみんな、自分の習慣や伝統があります。

We have our experiences and expectations.
経験や希望があります。

We all have our dreams and goals.
私たちはみんな、夢や目標を持っています。

And we easily become self-satisfied with what we aim for.
そして自分が目指しているものはとても良いものだ、と簡単に思ってしまうのです。

We say: “I want to do this…”
私たちは言います「私はこれがやりたい」

“I want to be like that…”
「私はあんな風になりたい…」

We think that we have set a high standard for ourselves.
自分自身に対して高い基準を設定していると考えます。

We think that we are aiming to achieve the best that we can for our lives.
人生で成しうるベストを成し遂げようとしているのだ、と思うわけです。

And then, even when our lives do not go according to plan;
そして、人生が計画通りに行かない時でさえ

Even when our future seems to be dark and without hope;
自分の未来が暗く、希望が無いように見えるときでさえ

As long as our own hearts remain the centre of our lives,
私たちの心が、私たちの人生の中心であり続ける限り、

Regardless of whether our circumstances are good or bad,
周りの状況が良くても悪くても関係なく

We will always try to find some kind of justification for ourselves within our situation.
私たちはいつでも、置かれている状況の中で、自分たちが正しいという何らかの根拠を見つけようとします。

I think that this is what is happening with the Samaritan woman here.
ここでサマリアの女に起こっていることも同じことでしょう。

Let’s look at her response to Jesus.
イエス様に対する彼女の応答を見てみましょう。

"Sir," the woman said, "you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water?
先生。あなたはくむ物を持っておいでにならず、この井戸は深いのです。その生ける水をどこから手にお入れになるのですか。

Where can you get this living water?
この生ける水はどこで手に入れることができるのでしょう？

Do you sense the sarcasm behind the question here?
皆さんには、この質問に隠された裏の意味が分かりますか？

Jesus is obviously seeming to offer something superior to what she was trying to get.
イエス様は明らかに、彼女が手に入れようとしていたものより良い物を提供しようとしておられました。

But she had no expectation that she might be able to receive something special.
でも彼女には、なにか特別なものをもらえるかもしれないという期待は全くありませんでした。

She didn’t ask Jesus for information about it, or how to get it.
彼女はイエス様にそれがどんなものか、どうやって手に入れるのか、たずねませんでした。

In fact, it seems that she is skeptical that such water even exists.
実際彼女は、そんな水があることすら疑っていたようです。

She continued:
彼女は続けました

Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his flocks and herds?" (John 4:11,12)
あなたは、私たちの先祖ヤコブよりも偉いのでしょうか。ヤコブは私たちにこの井戸を与え、彼自身も、彼の子たちも家畜も、この井戸から飲んだのです。

God had a gift.
神様は贈り物を持っておられました。

He wanted to give that gift to the woman.
この女にその贈り物を与えたいと思っておられました。

God was going to give the gift through Jesus.
神様はイエス様をとおしてその贈り物を与えようとしておられました。

But the woman was not open to what Jesus was saying.
でもその女はイエス様が言っておられたことを聞こうとしませんでした。

She was saying “This water was good enough for my ancestors.
彼女は、「私の祖先ダビデにとって、この水で十分だったんだから

So, it’s good enough for me.“
私にとってもこれで十分」と言っているわけです。

She did not know what the gift of God was;
彼女は神様の贈り物が何かを知らなかったのです。

And she did not understand who Jesus was
そして、イエス様が誰なのか分かっていなかったのです。

Instead, her focus was on herself.
代わりに、彼女が考えていたのは自分自身のことでした。

She was only looking at who she thought she was.
自分が自分をどう思っているかだけを考えていました。

Even though she was in a desperate situation;
絶望的な状況にあったのに、

and even though Jesus had come to her with this gift from God;
イエス様が神様からの贈り物を携えて彼女のところに来てくださっているのに

She couldn’t see – she didn’t want to see beyond what she things she knows:
彼女には見えていませんでした－自分が知っている以上のことは見たくないと思っていました。

She couldn’t see the possibility, the hope, beyond what she thought she knew.
自分の理解を超える可能性や希望があることに、気づくことが出来ませんでした

Whether we are aiming for high success;
私たちが高いレベルの成功を目指しているとしても

or struggling to get up off the bottom;
底辺から這い上がろうともがいているとしても

our problem is not that we aim too high.
私たちの問題は、目標が高すぎることではありません。

No! the opposite: we aim too low!
逆です！目標が低すぎるのです。

We are too easily accepting, or satisfied, with a standard that is too low.
私たちは低すぎる目標をあまりにも簡単に受け入れたり、良しとしたりしてしまいます。

We are too quick to give up any hope that there is something better, higher, than what we think we know (are used to.)
私たちが知っている以上に、良いもの、素晴らしいものがあるという望みをあまりにもあっさりと捨ててしまうのです。

God has a gift for us
神様は私たちのための贈り物を持っておられます。

He wants to bless us with this “living water.”
この「生ける水」で私たちを祝福したいと思っておられます。

Jesus came to offer us a living, dynamic, fulfilling, joy-filled life.
イエス様は、いきいきとした、良い意味で変化にとんだ、充実していて、喜びに満ちた人生を私たちに差し出すために来られました。

A blessed and powerful life.
恵みにあふれた、堂々とした人生です。

Jesus offered the woman the gift of eternal, life-giving water from above.
イエス様はこの女に上からの、永遠に涸れない、そして命を与える水の贈り物を差し出されました。

But she could not see beyond the water that she had been struggling to get from below.
でも彼女には自分が苦労して下から汲もうとしていた水以上のものは見えていませんでした。

So, Jesus responded to her:
それで、イエス様は彼女に答えました。

Jesus answered, "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again (John 4:13)
イエスは答えて言われた。「この水を飲む者はだれでも、また渇きます。

The woman could certainly understand that.
これはこの女にも良く分かりました。

Instead of being a symbol of community, of belonging, of life;
コミュニティの、所属の、命の、象徴であるどころか

The well mocked her failure, her isolation, her loneliness.
彼女にとってその井戸は、自分の失敗、孤立、孤独をあざ笑っているように思えました。

Everyday she had to struggle in discomfort to get water.
毎日彼女は大変な時間に苦労して水を手に入れなければなりませんでした。

She was alone.
彼女はひとりぼっちでした。

The well was 100 m deep, and she had to pull that water up from the bottom, in the heat of the day.
井戸は深さ100メートルあって、彼女は暑い時間に井戸の底から水を汲み上げなくてはいけませんでした。

There was no help.
助けてくれる人はいませんでした。

There was no encouragement.
励ましてくれる人もいませんでした。

There was no joy.
何の喜びもありませんでした。

But she had no choice but to keep going back to that well like that every day.
でも彼女には毎日同じように井戸に通うしか選択肢はありませんでした。

The water from this well revealed that she was like the flowers in a vase that we talked about before.
この井戸の水のことを考えると、彼女が、以前ここでお話しした、花瓶の花のようだということが良く分かります。

The flowers are cut off from their roots.
花瓶の花は、根を切り落とされています。

So the water in the vase is not providing them with renewing life;
それで、花瓶の中の水ではその花に新しい命を与えることはできません。

That water only prolongs the inevitable end to the remaining, incomplete life.
その水は、残された不完全な命が終わるのを延ばすことしかできません。

Those flowers are not living beings, they are dying beings.
それらの花は生きているものではなく、死んでいるものなのです。

And that is what the woman was like.
そしてこの女もそのようなものでした。

But that is all that the woman knew.
ですが、それは彼女の知っている全てでした。

It was her world.
それが彼女の世界でした。

So, in spite of her desperate situation, she found herself bound to what she knew.
つまり、絶望的な状況にもかかわらず、彼女は、自分の知っていることから離れることができなかったのです。

Nevertheless, Jesus had a gift for this woman.
それでも、イエス様にはこの女のための贈り物がありました。

Let’s read verse 14.
14節を読みましょう

but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life." (John 4:14)
しかし、わたしが与える水を飲む者はだれでも、決して渇くことがありません。わたしが与える水は、その人のうちで泉となり、永遠のいのちへの水がわき出ます。」

Imagine a fountain for a moment.
ちょっと泉を想像してみてください。

A fountain thrusts water up into the air with incredible energy.
泉は信じられない力で水を空中に噴き上げます。

It is a picture of both power and beauty.
力と美しさの両方が形になったようなものです。

It is dynamic.
とても力強いです。

And it keeps flowing out!
そしてずっと湧き出し続けます。

This is the life that Jesus came to offer this woman.
これこそがイエス様がこの女に差し出そうとされた命です。

This is the life that Jesus offers us.
私たちに差し出しておられる命です。

Jesus says this life is like a fountain of living water.
この命はいける水の泉のようだとイエス様は言っておられます。

So, let's look closely again at how Jesus describes this water.
では、イエス様がこの水をどう説明しているかもう一度詳しく見てみましょう。

What is this water like?
どんな水なのでしょう？

It is the gift of God.
神様の贈り物です。

It is living water.
生ける水です。

If you drink it, you will never thirst again.
飲めば二度とかわくことがありません。

In other words, this water is always available to you.
つまり、いつでも飲むことができる水です。

You don't have to go searching for it.
探し求める必要がありません。

You don't have to use your own strength to access it.
自分で努力しなくても手に入ります。

You don't have to struggle and work hard to receive it.
その水を受け取るために苦労しなくてもよいのです。

No matter where you are, this water will always be there for you.
自分がどこにいてもいつもこの水があなたのためにあります。

No matter what your situation is, you will always be able to find refreshment, peace and strength through this water.
自分の状況がどうであっても、この水を通して、いつもで安らぎと回復、平安と力を見出すことができます。

When your soul is thirsty, you will always be able to drink this water.
魂がかわいている時、いつでもこの水を飲むことができます。

This "living water" will always continue to give you life.
この生ける水はいつでも命を与え続けます。

Also, this water becomes a spring, a well of water within you.
またこの水は自分の中で泉となり、井戸となります。

That's why you will never be thirsty again if you drink this living water.
それで、この水を飲めば二度と乾くことがないのです。

It's not that you have one drink and never have to drink anymore ever again.
一度飲めばもう二度と飲まなくていい、ということではありません。

What Jesus is saying is that if you have one drink of this water;
イエス様が言っておられるのは、一度この水を飲めば

One true drink of this living water;
この生ける水を一口本当に飲めば

Then that drink will establish a well within your soul.
自分の心の中に井戸ができるということです。

And that well within your soul will provide for an eternity of life-giving, refreshing water.
そしてその心の中の井戸は、命を与え、魂を潤す水を絶えることなく湧き出させます。

In fact, this living water itself gives eternal life.
事実、この生ける水は永遠の命を与えてくれるのです。

So, what did the woman do?
そこで、この女はどうしたでしょう？

The woman said to him, "Sir, give me this water so that I won't get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water." (John 4:15)
女はイエスに言った。「先生。私が渇くことがなく、もうここまでくみに来なくてもよいように、その水を私に下さい。」

Jesus has offered this woman a present.
イエス様はこの女にプレゼントを差し出されました。

It was a gift from God.
それは神様からの贈り物でした。

It was the gift of life, together with God Himself.
それは神様ご自身と一緒にある、命の贈り物です。

A living, dynamic, fulfilling, joy-filled life.
いきいきとした、良い意味で変化にとんだ、充実していて、喜びに満ちた命です。

It is a blessed and powerful life.
恵みにあふれ、堂々とした命です。

But this woman still didn't understand who Jesus really was.
でもこの女は、まだイエス様が本当は誰なのか分かっていませんでした。

And so she didn't understand what Jesus wanted to give her.
だから、イエス様が彼女に何を与えたいと思っているのかも分かっていませんでした。

Jesus had come to offer her forgiveness and cleansing from her past and her present.
イエス様は彼女に、彼女の過去と現在の状態からの赦しと清めを与えるために来られました。

Jesus had come to heal and restore her.
イエス様は彼女を癒し、あるべき姿に戻すために来られました。

Jesus sought to give her hope and a future.
イエス様は彼女に希望と将来を与えようとしておられました。

But all that the woman was asking for was help to avoid her problems.
でもこの女が願ったことはただ、自分の問題から逃れられるようにして欲しい、ということだけでした。

She couldn't imagine anything beyond seeking an escape.
彼女には逃げること以上のことは考えられませんでした。

So instead of seeking to run to the hope of God’s present,
目の前に神様が差し出してくださっている希望へと駆け寄っていこうとする代わりに

She was only trying to run away from the curse of her past.
自分の過去の過ちが引き起こしたことから逃げようとしていただけでした。

She did this because she didn't know who Jesus is;
彼女がこのようにしたのは、イエス様が誰なのか分かっていなかったからであって、

Because she didn't understand what Jesus could give her;
また、イエス様が彼女に何を下さるのかを分かっていなかったからであって

But also, because she couldn't imagine anything else beyond what she knew.
また、彼女が分かっている以上のことは考えられなかったからです。

She certainly was not satisfied with her situation.
彼女が自分の状況に満足していたわけではありませんが

But at the same time, there is a sad irony.
同時に、仕方なくそれを受け入れてもいました。

When she was faced with the opportunity to be lead out of that situation,
その状況から抜け出すチャンスが目の前にあったのに

Instead of facing forward and walking towards the gift that was being offered her,
差し出されている贈り物の方を向いて歩きだすことをせずに

The woman walked backwards, still looking at her past.
相変わらず過去ばかりを見て、それから離れようとしただけでした。

She could not see beyond the only things that she knew.
自分が知っている以上のことは彼女には見えていませんでした。

We must be very careful not to reject what Jesus offers us because of our own limited understanding of who He is.
私たちは、イエス様について部分的にしか理解していないからといってイエス様を拒むことがないように、十分に気を付けなくてはいけません。

Do you know the gift of God?
あなたは神様の贈り物が分かっていますか？

Jesus ability to help us is not limited by our present situation.
私たちの状況がどうであっても、イエス様が私たちを助けてくださる力が制限されたりはしません。

He reaches out to us;
イエス様は私たちに手を差し伸べてくださいます。

He continues to reach out to us.
手を差し伸べ続けてくださいます。

He has a gift for us.
私たちへの贈り物を持っておられます。

Living water.
生ける水です。

Life together with Himself.
イエス様と共にある命です。

We do not need to struggle in our own strength like that woman to drag heavy water up.
私たちはこの女のように重たい水をくみ上げようと自分の力で苦労する必要はありません。

The life that Jesus offers is a gift.
イエス様が差し出しておられる命は、贈り物です。

Jesus gives it to us.
イエス様はそれを私たちにくださいます。

He puts it within us.
私たちの中に、くださいます。

And when we taste it, this life wells up within us.
そして私たちがそれを味わうとき、この命は私たちの中に湧き出します。

It is powerful, dynamic, and beautiful like a fountain.
泉のように、力強く、変化に富んでいて、美しく。

And it is always available to refresh us.
そしていつでも私たちを潤してくれます。

Jesus calls to us:
イエス様は私たちに呼びかけておられます。

“Don’t be satisfied with what you think you know.
自分で当たり前だと思っていることで満足してはいけません。

If we really know who Jesus is;
もし私たちがイエス様が誰なのかを本当に知っていれば、

and if we really look into this gift that Jesus offers to us,
そしてイエス様が私たちに差し出してくださっている贈り物を真剣に見つめるなら

Then we should really ask Jesus for a drink;
私たちも、イエス様にその水を下さるようにお願いすることになるでしょう。

And he will give us this living water.
そして、イエス様は私たちにこの生ける水をくださいます。

Father God,
天のお父様

Although we are all together here today, we have all come from different backgrounds.
私たちは今日ここに集まっていますが、みんな違ったバックグラウンドを持っています。

Each of us has our own life experiences;
それぞれに今まで歩んできた道があり

And we all have our various hopes and dreams for the future.
それぞれに将来への希望や夢があります。

But while those things may indeed all be different, we all share a very basic need in common.
ですがそういったものが違っても、根本的に必要としているものは同じです。

We all need to know that we are loved and accepted.
私たちはみな、愛されたい、受け入れられたいと思っています。

Our hearts continually thirst to be filled.
私たちの心はいつでも渇いています。

I ask You to help us to not be satisfied with the things that this world provides.
私がこの世界にあるもので満足してしまわないように助けてください。

Help us to understand that those things cannot give us ultimate peace and satisfaction.

And lead us to desire, to receive, the gift of life that you offer to us.

Please help us to know You personally; to receive Your love for us personally

So that we will be able to always drink from Your well that springs up to eternal life.
