Genesis 4:13-16
創世記４章１３節〜１６節

Genesis 4:13-16
Cain said to the LORD, "My punishment is more than I can bear.
Today you are driving me from the land, and I will be hidden from your presence; I will be a restless wanderer on the earth, and whoever finds me will kill me."
But the LORD said to him, "Not so ; if anyone kills Cain, he will suffer vengeance seven times over." Then the LORD put a mark on Cain so that no one who found him would kill him.
So Cain went out from the LORD's presence and lived in the land of Nod, east of Eden.
創世記４章１３節〜１６節
カインは【主】に申し上げた。「私の咎は、大きすぎて、にないきれません。
ああ、あなたはきょう私をこの土地から追い出されたので、私はあなたの御顔から隠れ、地上をさまよい歩くさすらい人とならなければなりません。それで、私に出会う者はだれでも、私を殺すでしょう。」
【主】は彼に仰せられた。「それだから、だれでもカインを殺す者は、七倍の復讐を受ける。」そこで【主】は、彼に出会う者が、だれも彼を殺すことのないように、カインに一つのしるしを下さった。
それで、カインは、【主】の前から去って、エデンの東、ノデの地に住みついた。
Recently, we have been reading about Cain and his brother Abel.
この何ヶ月か、カインとその弟アベルについて見ています。

Cain and Abel had brought offerings to the Lord God.
カインとアベルは主なる神様にささげものをしました。

God accepted Abel’s offering.
神様はアベルのささげものを受け取られました。

But Cain’s offering was rejected.
ですがカインのささげものは拒まれたのです。

Remember, Abel’s was an offering of thanksgiving for what God had done for him.
アベルのささげものは、神様がアベルにしてくださったことに対する感謝のささげものでした。

Abel’s offering showed he recognized that God is perfectly holy and righteous.
アベルのささげものは神様は完全に聖であり義なる方だと、彼が認めていることを表していました。

And he recognized that he himself did not meet that perfect standard.
そして自分自身はその完全な基準を満たしてはいないと認めていました。

Abel understood that he had sin before God.
アベルは、自分が神様の前に罪があるということを分かっていました。

He recognized the problem, but he also understood the solution.
彼は問題を認めていただけでなく、解決方法もわかっていました。

Abel’s offering to God revealed that he believed and trusted that God had forgiven his sin.
アベルの神様へのささげものは、神様は自分の罪を赦してくれていると彼が信じていることを表していました。

Abel had received God’s grace, and so his heart was then covered by that grace of God’s.
アベルは神様の恵みを受け取っていました、それで彼の心は神様のその恵みで覆われるようになりました。

At the same time, Cain’s response also revealed the state of his heart.
それと同時に、カインの反応も彼の心の状態を表していました。

Cain didn’t understand his problem.
カインは自分の問題を分かっていませんでした。

And if he didn’t understand the problem, how could he understand the solution?
もし彼が問題を分かっていなかったのなら、どうやって彼に解決方法が分かったでしょう？

This problem was clearly reflected in the nature of Cain’s offering to the Lord God.
この問題は、カインの神様へのささげものの性質にはっきりと反映されていました。

And it was clearly shown in his response afterwards.
そしてその後の彼の反応にもはっきりと表されていました。

Instead of showing humility or gratitude, Cain became very angry.
謙遜さや感謝を表す代わりに、カインはとても腹を立てました。

He didn’t understand God’s grace.
彼は神様の恵みを理解していませんでした。

It was clear that Cain’s heart was not covered with God’s grace.
カインの心が神様の恵みで覆われていなかったことは明らかです。

But God called out to Cain.
ですが神様はカインを招かれました。

God was trying to reach that hardened heart of Cain’s.
神様はカインのかたくなな心をなんとかしたいと思っておられました。

It was just like when He called out to Adam, Cain's father.
神様がカインの父、アダムを呼ばれた時とちょうど同じでした。

Remember in the Garden of Eden?
エデンの園での出来事を覚えていらっしゃるでしょうか？

When Adam turned away from God, he lost the covering of God’s grace.
アダムが神様から顔を背けた時、彼は神様の恵みの覆いを失いました。

And he was filled with shame and fear.
そして恥と恐れでいっぱいになりました。

So he hid.
そして彼は隠れました。

But God called out to Adam.
でも、神様はアダムを呼ばれました。

Adam, Adam. Where are you?
アダム、アダム、あなたはどこに居るのか？

Why did God call out to Adam?
なぜ神様はアダムを呼ばれたのでしょう？

Was it because he couldn't find him?
アダムを見つけることができなかったからでしょうか？

Was the covering of fig leaves that Adam had made to hide his shame such a perfect disguise that not even God could see him?
アダムが恥を隠すために作ったイチジクの葉っぱの覆いは、神様でさえアダムを見つけられなくなるほど完全な変装だったのでしょうか？

Of course not!
もちろん違います！

God knew exactly where Adam was.
神様はアダムがどこに居るのか正確に知っておられました。

God could see Adam in spite of the covering that he was trying to hide behind.
神様は、アダムが身を隠すためのその覆いにもかかわらず、アダムを見ることができました。

God knew that Adam had lost the covering of God's own righteousness that God had originally given him.
神様がもともとアダムにくださった神様ご自身の義の覆いを、アダムがなくしてしまったということを神様は知っておられました。

So, God could not only see Adam;
それで、神様はただアダムを見ることができただけでなく

God could see everything about Adam.
アダムの全てを見ることができました。

God knew everything about Adam.
アダムの全てを知っておられました。

God understood everything about Adam.
神様はアダムの全てを分かっておられました。

And God understands everything about us.
そして神様は私達のことも全て分かっておられます。

David talks about this in Psalm 139.
ダビデが詩篇139篇でこれについて語っています。

He starts by recognizing that God sees everything within him.
神様が自分のことを全てを知っておられると認めることから始まっています。

No matter where he went;
ダビデがどこに行こうとも

no matter what he did;
何をしようとも

God has always been with him.
神様はいつでも彼と共に居てくださいました。

God would always be with him.
そして神様はいつまでも彼と共に居てくださいます。

Every thought that crossed David’s mind;
ダビデの心にあった全ての思い

every word that he ever spoke;
彼が話した全てのことば

and everything that David did…
そして彼の行ったこと全てを

God knew it in every detail.
神様は詳しくご存知でした。

David had an insight into God’s infinite knowledge, wisdom and power.
ダビデには神様の限りない知識、知恵、力がどんな物か良く分かっていました。

And he recognized how small he was himself in the light of that truth.
そして彼は真実の光の中では自分自身がどんなに小さいかを認めていました。

If we stop and think about it, really think about it, that is a very scary thing.
もし私達が立ち止まってそれについて考えるなら、本当にそれについて考えるなら、それはとても恐ろしいことです。

It should be a really scary thing!
本当に恐ろしいにちがいありません。

To think that God knows EVERYTHING about you.
神様があなたのことを全て知っていると考えることは。

I mean (だって) we don’t even know everything about ourselves.
私達は自分自身のことさえ全部は知らないんですから。

In fact, we don’t even want to know everything about ourselves.
実際、自分のことを全部知りたいと望むこともないと思いますが。

We have our public self and our private self.
私達には表向きの自分とプライベートな自分があります。

And we use our public self to hide our private self from other people.
そして私達は表向きの自分で、プライベートな自分を他の人から隠すのです。

But it is not just other people that we hide from
私達が隠すのは他の人たちから、だけではありません。


What do other people think of me?
他の人達は私についてどう考えているでしょう？

We often imagine.
私達はよく想像します。

We often guess.
よく推測します。

Ah, they think such and such about me.
他の人達は私についてあれこれと考えている、と思い巡らしますが、

But we invariably base that assumption on what we actually think about ourselves.
たいていの場合、私達は自分が自分のことをどう考えているか、ということに基礎をおいているのです。

So, a person might indeed think about you just as you imagine.
それで、もしかしたらある人は、事実あなたが考えるようにあなたについて考えるかも知れませんし、

Or, on the other hand, which is probably much more common, they don’t think like that at all.
もう一方では、全くそんな風には考えてないということもまた、良くあることでしょう。

However, in either case, the underlying cause is that we have a sense, or an awareness within our hearts, that something is wrong.
けれども、どちらのケースでも、私達が自分の心の中に何かよくない物がある、と感じ、気付いていることが隠れた理由となっています。

We feel inadequate.
私達は自分に何かが足りないと感じます。

We feel incomplete.
自分は不完全だと感じます。

We feel that there is a problem within us.
自分達の中に問題があると感じます。

And that thought can leave us with a sense of shame;
そしてそのような考えは私達に恥じを感じさせます。

a feeling of guilt.
罪悪感を持たせます。

What other people think of us is very important to us.
私達は他の人達が自分のことをどう考えているか、ということがとても気になります。

Regardless of whether it is actually true or not, our perception – what we believe other people think about us can very strongly affect what we think about ourselves.
それが実際に本当かどうかにかかわらず、私達の理解－他の人達がこう言う風に自分のことを考えているに違いないと想像することは、私達が自分自身についてどう考えるか、ということに強い影響を及ぼします。


But if we worry about what other people think of us, how much more do we, or how much more should we, worry about what the Lord God thinks of us?
でももし私達が、他の人達が自分のことをどう考えているかを気にするなら、神様が自分のことをどう考えているのかをもっと気にするべきではないでしょうか？

He is the eternal Creator, and He is the righteous judge of all humanity.
神様は永遠の造り主です、そして全ての人間を正しく裁かれる方です。

He sees everything.
神様は全てを見ておられます。

He knows everything.
全てを知っておられます。

So, what does God think of me?
では、神様は私のことをどう思っているのでしょう？

Is God angry at me?
私に腹を立てているでしょうか？

Surely he must be.
きっとそうにちがいありません。

God knows everything about me:
神様は私のことを全て知っておられます。

As David said, every thought that has crossed my mind;
ダビデが言っている通り、私の心にあった全ての思いを、

every word that I have ever spoken;
私が話した全ての言葉を

and everything that I have ever done…
そして私が行った全てのことを

God knows it in every detail.
神様は詳しく知っておられます。

So, if God’s standard of acceptance is His own holy perfection;
それで、もし神様の聖なる完全さが、神様が人間を受け入れる基準だとしたら、

and if God holds great wrath against anything that doesn’t meet that perfect standard;
そして神様がその完璧な基準を満たさない物に対して、大きな怒りを持つとしたら、

then it is very clear to me that I have a problem.
私には問題があるということは明らかです。

I have a very serious problem.
とても深刻な問題です。

How could God not be angry with me?
神様は私に腹を立てないでいる訳がないでしょう。

How could I be accepted by God?
私は神様に受け入れてもらえることはあり得るのでしょう？


This is the problem that Cain faced.
これがカインが直面していた問題です。

Cain had made an offering to the Lord God, but as we have seen, God did not look on that offering with favor.
カインは神様にささげものをしました、ですが見てきたように、神様はそのささげものを喜ばれませんでした。

And so Cain’s face was downturned and he became very angry.
それでカインは顔を伏せ、ひどく怒りました。

He was filled with regret;
彼は後悔でいっぱいでした。

He knew that he had done wrong.
彼は自分が間違いを犯したことを知っていました。

He knew that he had a problem with God.
自分が神様に対して問題があるということを知っていました。

But God had not simply rejected Cain.
ですが、神様は単にカインを拒んだのではありませんでした。

God had certainly not abandoned Cain.
神様は決してカインを見捨てたわけではありませんでした。

In fact, God had just tried to reason with Cain.
実際、神様はカインに説明しようとしました。

  • If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it." (Genesis 4:7)
  • あなたが正しく行なったのであれば、受け入れられる。ただし、あなたが正しく行なっていないのなら、罪は戸口で待ち伏せして、あなたを恋い慕っている。だが、あなたは、それを治めるべきである。(創世記4:7)

God knew everything about Cain.
神様はカインのことをなんでも知っておられました。

God knew Cain’s problem.
神様はカインの問題を知っておられました。

But at the same time, it was God Himself who had prepared the solution to the problem.
ですが同時に、その問題の解決方法を用意しておられたのも神様でした。

All Cain needed to do was to accept his problem, and then to accept God’s solution to that problem.
カインはただ、自分の問題を受け入れ、その問題に対する神様の解決方法を受け入れることが必要だったのです。


  • But Cain mourned: “I will be hidden from your presence; I will be a restless wanderer on the earth.”
    しかしカインはこう嘆きました。「私はあなたから隠れ、地上を休みなくさまよい歩く者とならなければなりません。」

Cain said this, but he didn’t move towards God.
カインはこう言いながら、彼は神様に向き合おうとはしませんでした。

Cain was filled with fear.
カインは恐れでいっぱいでした。

Cain also thought that he had a problem with everyone else in the world.
カインはまた、周りの人達との間に問題を抱えてしまった、と思いました。

  • • “Whoever finds me will kill me.” he also cried out.
「私に出会う者はだれでも、私を殺すでしょう。」また彼はそう叫んだ。


Cain was scared that someone would kill him to avenge the murder of his brother.
カインは、誰かが弟アベルのかたきを打つために自分を殺すだろうと、恐れました。

But even though Cain still refused to turn to God, God promised Cain that He would protect him.
ですがカインが神様の方を向くことを拒んでいてもなお、神様はカインを守ると約束してくださいました。

  • But the LORD said to him, "Not so ; if anyone kills Cain, he will suffer vengeance seven times over." Then the LORD put a mark on Cain so that no one who found him would kill him.
  • 主は彼に仰せられた。「それだから、だれでもカインを殺す者は、七倍の復讐を受ける。」そこで主は、彼に出会う者が、だれも彼を殺すことのないように、カインに一つのしるしを下さった


At first, God declared here that if anyone kills Cain they would suffer vengeance seven times over.
最初に神様は、もし誰かがカインを殺すなら、その人達は七倍の復讐を受ける、と言われました。

However, this does not mean that there was a possibility that someone might actually kill him.
しかしこれは、実際に誰かが彼を殺す可能性があった、という意味ではありません。

In the Bible, the number seven is often used to represent perfection or completeness.
聖書では、「7」という数字が「完全に」という意味で使われることがよくあります。

So, this “seven times vengeance” shows that God was absolutely dedicated to protecting Cain.
ですので、ここに出てくる「七倍の復讐」とは神様がカインを全ての手を尽くして守られるということを表しています。

Then we are told that God put a mark on Cain.
神様はカインに印を付けられたと書いてあります。

We don't know what kind of a mark it was.
それがどういう物だったのかは私達には分かりませんが、

However, whatever it looked like, it is confirmation that God would perfectly, completely, protect Cain.
それがどういうものであったとしても、神様は絶対に、完全に、カインを守ってくださるということの確証でした。

There is no chance that someone could have avoided God's guard and somehow killed Cain.
誰かが神様の守りの隙をついて、どうにかしてカインを殺してしまう、などということはあり得ません。

No. God had made a promise to protect him.
そうです、神様はカインを守ることを約束されました。


And so Cain's life was indeed secure.
ですから、カインの命は本当に安全でした。

Why did God do this?
何故神様はこんなことをしたのでしょうか？

Had something changed to now bring Cain into a right relationship with the Lord God?
カインを神様との正しい関係に導き入れる様なことがその時なにか起きたのでしょうか？

Did this mean that God had now already covered Cain’s sin with His own righteousness?
それは、神様が既にカインの罪をご自分の義で覆われたという意味だったのでしょうか？

Let’s remember again what God had earlier told Cain:
神様が以前カインに言われたことをもう一度思い出してみましょう：

  • If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? …"
あなたが正しく行なったのであれば、受け入れられる。

Well, Cain had actually NOT done this.
しかし、カインはそのように行ってはいなかったのです。

Cain had not acknowledged God’s holy righteousness.
カインは、神様の聖なる義を認め、受入れていませんでした。

He had not accepted the problem of his own brokenness before God.
神様の前では自分は不完全で汚れている、ということも認めて受け入れてはいませんでした。

And He had not accepted the offer of God’s solution to his problem.
そして、自分の問題のために神様が備えてくださった解決をも受入れなかったのです。

In fact, it was straight after God had reached out to Cain that Cain turned his back further on God.
実際、カインが更に神様に背いたのは、神様がカインに手を差し伸べてくださった直後のことでした。

And there he murdered his own brother.
そしてそこで弟アベルを殺してしまったのです。

So, it is very clear that Cain was still not right with God.
ですから、カインが神様と正しい関係をまだ持っていなかったのは明らかなことです。

And so Cain could not be together with God.
それでカインは、神様と一緒にいられなかったのです。

  • So Cain went out from the LORD's presence and lived in the land of Nod, east of Eden.
それで、カインは、主の前から去って、エデンの東、ノデの地に住みついた。

Notice that when he went to live in the land of Nod, Cain went out from the Lord’s presence.
彼がノデの地に行って住んだ時、カインは神様の前から去った、というところに注意を向けてださい。

He went away from God.
彼は神様からはなれて行きました。

The reality is that Cain was still very much separated from God.
カインはその時まだ、神様から遠く離れてしまっていた、というのが事実です。

The tragic reality though, is that Cain was only separated from God because of his own stubbornness.
悲劇的な事実ですが、カインが神様から離れていたのは、ただただ自分のかたくなさのためでした。

God had reached out to Cain.
神様は、カインに御手を差し伸べておられました。

God had tried to reason with Cain.
神様は、カインを説得しようとされました。

But it was Cain who had refused to listen.
けれども、カインの方が神様を聞き入れることを拒んだのです。

Even when faced with the tragic consequences of his own decision, Cain refused to yield his heart to the Lord God.
自分で決めたことが悲劇的な結末を引き起こしても、カインは自分のこころを神様に委ねようとはしませんでした。

Nevertheless, God did not abandon Cain.
しかし、それでも、神様はカインをお見捨てになりませんでした。

God even promised to protect Cain’s life, even though Cain did not deserve it.
神様はカインの命を守ることさえ約束してくださいました、カインはそうしてもらえるような者ではなかったのにもかかわらず、です。

Why?
何故でしょうか？

There is only one answer to this question.
１つだけ、理由があります。

God’s desperate desire was for Cain to return to Him.
カインがご自分の元に帰ってくることが、神様の何物にも代えがたい願いだったのです。

God desperately wanted Cain to return to Him.
どうしてもカインに戻って来て欲しかったのです。

Was it because Cain was good?
それは、カインが正しかったからだったでしょうか？

Absolutely not!
決してそんな事はありません。

The truth is that Cain did deserve to die.
本当なら、カインはその罪の罰、死、を受けるべき者でした。

But God still reached out to Cain with His hand of grace.
それでも神様は、憐れみの御腕を持って、カインに手を差し伸べられました。

God’s grace did not mean that God condoned Cain’s situation.
その憐れみというのは、神様がカインの状態を良しとされたという意味ではありません。

But at the same time, the Lord God had not abandoned Cain –
ですが同時に、主なる神様はカインを見捨てることをしませんでした。

because, in spite of what Cain thought, in spite of everything that he had said; had done, God still loved Cain.
それは、カインが思っていたこと、言ったこと、してしまったことがどうであってもそれには関係なく、カインを愛し続けておられる神様だからです。

Later in the Old Testament, God revealed this love of His to Israel.
後に旧約聖書において、神様はその愛をイスラエル民族に対して明らかにされました。

God declared:
こう言われました。
  • “…you are precious and honored in my sight. I love you.”
わたしの目には、あなたは高価で尊い。わたしはあなたを愛している。

Now, in case you think that their situation must have been special, or different to that of Cain’s, let’s look quickly at what had been happening.
さて、もし皆さんが、イスラエル民族はなにか特別だったから、あるいはカインとは全く違っていたから神様はそんなことを言われたのだろうと思っているといけないので、その背景をちょっと確認しましょう。


Far from being trusting and obedient, Israel, God’s chosen children, had completely turned their backs on God.
イスラエル民族は、全く、神様を信頼しても、従ってもいませんでした、神の子どもとして選ばれていましたが、完全に神様に背いてしまっていました。

They had ignored God.
彼らが神様を無視していました。

They had rejected God.
神様を拒んでいました。

And so, in the end, God gave them the space that they were demanding.
ですから、最終的に神様は彼らが求めた通りの場所をお与えになりました。

They wanted to be on their own terms – away from God.
彼らは神様から離れたいと、自分達から言い出したのです。

And so God allowed them to go.
そこで、神様は彼らを引き止めようとされませんでした。

And what happened was that Israel was taken into foreign captivity.
その結果、イスラエル民族は捕虜として外国に連れていかれることになりました。

They thought that they could be right and free on their own;
イスラエルの人達は自分達だけで正しく、自由に生きることができると思っていましたが

but instead, they completely lost their all their freedom.
実際には、その自由を完全に失ってしまいました。

However, the truth is that God hadn’t abandoned them.
でも、神様は彼らを見捨てたわけではありませんでした。

And so it was into the midst of their despair, while they were still separated from God, that God reached out to them.
ですから、まだ神様から離れたままで、絶望の中にいたイスラエルの人達に御手を差し伸ばべてくださいました。

God knew them.
神様は彼らを知っておられました。

God knew their problem.
神様は彼らの問題を知っておられました。

And God sought to encourage them;
そこで、神様はイスラエルを励まそうとされました。

It was God who had the solution to their problem.
彼らの問題の解決を持っていたのは、神様でした。

And so God sought to reason with them:
なので、神様は彼らを説得しようとされました。

  • “…you are precious and honored in my sight. I love you.”
わたしの目には、あなたは高価で尊い。わたしはあなたを愛している。

God had not abandoned them.
神様はイスラエルを見捨ててはおられませんでした。

God would protect them.
神様はイスラエルを守ってくださいます。

God would rescue them.
神様はイスラエルを救ってくださいます。


So, what about us?
では、私達のことはどうでしょう？

What does God really think of us?
神様は私達のことを本当はどう思っておられるのでしょう？

The Lord God knows every detail about us, too.
主なる神様は私達のすべてを知っておられます。

So, how can God not be angry at us?
神様は私に腹を立てないでいる訳がないでしょう。

How could I be accepted by God?
私は神様に受け入れてもらえることはあり得るのでしょう？

Grace does not mean that God condones us.
めぐみ、とは神様が私達をそのままの状態で許す、という意味ではありません。

So how can we have the assurance, the security, of being completely accepted, of being absolutely safe?
では、どうしたら私達は、完全に受け入れられていて、何も心配はないのだ、という確信と安心を持つことができるでしょう？

It is God Himself who has the solution to this problem.
その問題の解決は神様ご自身にあります。

And so God also seeks to reason with us:
なので、神様は私達をも説得しようとされます：

  • "Come now, let us reason together," says the LORD. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.
「さあ、来たれ。論じ合おう。」と主は仰せられる。「たとい、あなたがたの罪が緋のように赤くても、雪のように白くなる。たとい、紅のように赤くても、羊の毛のようになる。

Even though we might turn our backs on God;
私達は神様に背いてしまうかも知れません。

even though we might move further away from Him;
神様から、今よりも遠くはなれてしまうことがあるかも知れません。

God does not abandon us.
でも、神様は私達を決して見捨てません。

Yes, God is righteous and holy.
そうです。神様は正しい、聖なる方です。

Yes, one day He will bring about His perfect justice against sin.
そうです。神様が、罪に対する完全な正義をくだす日は必ずやって来ます。

But Jesus’ disciple, Peter tells us:
でも、イエス様の弟子、ペテロがはこう教えています：

  • The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

主は、ある人たちがおそいと思っているように、その約束のことを遅らせておられるのではありません。かえって、あなたがたに対して忍耐深くあられるのであって、ひとりでも滅びることを望まず、すべての人が悔い改めに進むことを望んでおられるのです。


So God comes to us Himself with a second chance;
神様はもう一度やり直すチャンスを持って、私達の所に来てくださいます。

or with a third, or a fortieth, or a five hundredth chance.
一度と言わず、３回でも、４０回でも、５００回でも。

God desires so much for us to know His love for us;
神様は、神様の私たちへの愛を知って欲しい、と心から願っておられます。

to experience His grace on us.
私達への恵みを体験して欲しいと願っておられます。

So God calls us to look at His Son.
ですから、神様は御子を仰ぎ見るようにと私達を招いておられます。

When we trust that Jesus paid the penalty for our sins on the cross;
イエス様が私達の罪の代価を十字架上で支払って下さったことを私達が信じるなら、

when we really understand that God has already vented His wrath against that sin on Jesus’ body;
神様は、その罪に対する御怒りをイエス様の体と一緒に十字架につけてしまった、ということを本当に理解するなら、

when we look into the gift of God’s grace for us, His forgiveness of us;
神様の、私達のための恵みと赦しの贈り物を見つめるなら、

then we start to understand what He really thinks of us.
そのとき、神様が私達のことを本当はどう思っておられるのかということを理解できるようになります。

We start to experience the depth of His love for us.
神様の愛の深さを体験できるようになります。

Jesus has paid the penalty of my sin in full.
イエス様は私の罪の代価を完全に支払って下さいました。

So, when God looks at me, He sees Jesus’ righteousness covering my heart.
ですから、神様が私を見るとき、私のこころを覆っているイエス様の正しさが見えるのです。

And out of God’s love for His Son, Jesus, God receives us with that same love.
そして、神様は御子イエス様を愛しているので、その同じ愛をもって私達を受入れて下さるのです。

So, we become freed from fear about what we other people think of us;
そのことを通して、私達は他の人々が私達のことをどう思っているだろうかと言う恐れから開放されます。

We are released from our sense of guilt before God;
神様の御前に持つ罪悪感からも解放されます。

and our very life itself becomes transformed into an offering of thanksgiving for what the Lord has done in us.
そして、私達の命、人生そのものが神様が私達にしてくださったことへの感謝の捧げものへと変えられて行くのです。

Jesus Himself is the solution that God has provided for us.
イエス様ご自身が神様が備えて下さっている私達の問題に対する解決なのです。


Father God,

What a joy it is to know how much You love us.
あなたが私達をどれぐらい愛して下さっているかを知ることは何と幸いなことでしょう。

Lord, I join with King David, who declared: I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
主よ、ダビデ王と共にあなたを賛美します：
私は感謝します。あなたは私に、奇しいことをなさって恐ろしいほどです。私のたましいは、それをよく知っています。

The depth of Your love for us is just so amazing, it is too incredible for us to fully understand.
あなたの私達への愛の深さは驚くほどです、あまりに素晴らしくて、私達には完全には理解できないほどです。

Oh Lord, how we need to know Your love.
ああ、主よ。私達はどれだけあなたの愛を知る必要があるでしょう。

Please open our hearts.
どうぞ、私達のこころを開いて下さい。

Help us to know how valuable we are to You.
私達があなたにとってどれほどの価値があるかを知ることができるようにして下さい。

You are a great God.
あなたは偉大な神です。

Help us to understand the depth of Your great love for us
あなたの愛の大きさ、深さを分かるようにしてください。

So that we will receive Your mercy, Your grace,
そして、私達があなたの憐れみ、恵みを頂いて、

and that our lives will be an offering overflowing with thanksgiving for You.
私達の命、人生があなたへの感謝で溢れる捧げものとなりますように。
